The game is played on a board 13x13 squares.
Depending on the game options selected the board can be cleared or not.
The rack contains seven letters with which you can make words on the board.
There is only one rack of letters which can be seen by all players.
Playing the game
Each player takes a turn to play a word on the board from the letters on the rack. Letter tiles can be placed with the mouse or keyboard (see Letter placement).
There is a time limit per turn indicated by the clock :

.
The game settings, including the timer per turn is chosen by the 'captain' of the table (red) before the game starts.
To enter the word played on the board, the player must click
'Submit' or wait until the clock reaches 00:00.
The game dictionary then checks the validity of the word played. If accepted the letters change colour and scores are adjusted (see scoring). If the word played is invalid, the tiles return to the rack and scores do not change.
Scores appear to the right of the name of each player :
If you want to skip your turn or if a play is not possible, click on
'Submit' and the turn passes to the next player. The rack will empty if all players skip and be replaced by a new rack of letters which are drawn at random.
The game ends when a player reaches the target score, indicated to the right of the flag :
Like the time, the target score is set by the captain of the table before commencement of the game.
Validity of turns
For a turn to be valid, the letters placed on the board must meet the following requirements :
- The first word placed on the board must have one letter on the centre circle,
- Subsequent words played must be in contact with tiles already on the board,
- At least two letters must be placed on the board per turn,
- Letters can be played in only one direction,
- Words must be read from left to right or from top to bottom,
- You cannot play more than one word per turn.
As the words are read horizontally and vertically, letters played can form several words at once. This is known as 'stacking' :
Scoring
Each tile is worth one point. If you steal your opponent's letters by making new words with them then your score will be increased and theirs decreased accordingly. See
Scoring for more information.
